5The X-Cel Eyepieces Are My "Go-To" Eyepieces
By JT
Eyepieces (EP) are like home entertainment speakers. Until you've listened to them and compared them against other speakers you really have no idea how good they are. That being said, these are very good, nearly "spectacular view" EPs. I own the 25mm, 18mm, 9mm and I use them in my 11" (f10/6.3) Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope (SCT). I use the 25mm EP as my wide field nebulae EP. The Orion nebulae (M42) looks 3-dimensional through this EP and I actually said "WOW" the first time I used it and I've been looking at Orion for 42 years! I use the 18mm for globular clusters, the Hercules Cluster (M13) can be resolved to the center with ease. I use the 9mm for the planets and planetary nebulae.

I own 12 EPs: Plossls, Erfles, Orthoscopics and Kellners, these X-Cel EPs are the 3 I use most often.

Some other reviewers have said that the "Cons" are "heavy" and "bulky". To me this is not a "Con". These are well constucted, solid feeling EPs that are easily handled with gloved or cold hands.

There are better EPs, but not at this price. To me, these are the most bang for the buck!

5Consistent quality
By M. Sutherland
Bought the 12mm and was so impressed I bought the 18mm. After finding the 18mm just as sharp and comfortable as the 12mm I knew Celestron was serious about this line. It wasn't long before I decided I needed the 9mm as well. I am happy to report all 3 eyepieces have the same high build quality, sharp, contrasts views and very comfortable eye relief. I've been viewing for 15 years and have never been so satisfied about performance and price with any other line.

5If you only have "kit" eyepieces, buy this.
By Devin
I'm extremely impressed with this eyepiece, but can only compare it to the 'kit' eyepieces that came with my telescope (Orion SkyQuest XT6), specifically the 10mm Plossl. The view through this chunky beast (it's not light or small) makes it worth every penny because of the large field of view alone, but the sharpness and contrast also seemed slightly improved. If you're looking for a step-up from an entry-level or basic kit lens, I highly recommend this.
