5The Picture Really Doesn't Do it Justice
By PB
I received this item and I was shocked as to how meaty the hardware is on this thing. This is a well made item and worth the $$$. To mount it, you will require the appropriate Dovetail bar for CGE that will fit your scope. The only drawback I see would be it's weight. I didn't weigh it before putting it on my scope but I would guess it to be around 11 pounds total including all hardware (including the dovetail, mounting rings and the scope). Depending on your motorized scope the extra weight may put some strain on your motors so be sure to rebalance your scope once installed. If you don't have enough counterweight, you will need to purchase another weight for your scope like I had to do because even moving my existing weight all the way to the end of the bar wasn't enough to balance out the additional weight. Keep that in mind when you budget this purchase as you may need to buy another counterweight. I installed mine to my C8 SGT XLT Advanced Series Scope and it adds a lot of appeal to the scope itself. I haven't had a chance to test the scope yet as I now need to invest in a autoguider to use it. I am thinking of the Celestron version that doesn't require a laptop to operate it which I think is a nice feature. The less we have to deal with when setting up in the field or even in the backyard, the better. Nice package!

4Using with nexguide, works well
By Jason Grant
I've begun my foray into astrophotography, and this means auto guiding. I have a Celestron advanced gt mount. It's an entry level mount, not recommended for imaging, but you have to start somewhere. This guide scope with the nexguide, really surprised me. It turned a cheap mount into something usable. (Albeit, I use a dlsr set up and don't expose longer than 5 min). The scope was of sufficient power to get a guide star, and locked. The rings work well and have enough space /wiggle room to get a nice bright star in view. I've even used this scope to image. It has a wider field of view, than my 9.25 sct, but it took some jerry rigging to set the camera at the right focal length. It was tough but I got all of andromeda in one frame, though there is some wicked vignetteing. All said, totally happy with this purchase. Totally beats using a laptop.
