5How nice when something really works!
By CatsWhisker
I argued with myself for a long time before I bought this; I hated to spend the money just to do something I could do manually in a couple minutes when I set up by NexStar scope. But then I splurged and bought it, and I am happy I did. It works just like it is supposed to, and it saves time fiddling with another separate GPS device and clock, especially when traveling to a new viewing site. I think it may even improve the accuracy of the GoTo function, although I can't prove that (nor understand how it could if you enter your time and GPS coordinates from an accurate device rather than choosing the nearest city from the telescope list.) It seems a little expensive to me for what it does, but it is a nice gadget and well packaged to go with my scope. Bottom line: I am glad I got it and it works well.

4Certainly increases alignment efficiency. Great Buy.
By DJR
I had my NexStar 6SE for about 5 months before I bought the SkySync. Although the price seemed extremelly high (about 20 percent of the cost of the telescope itself), I thought I should give it a try, since I always had to align my telescope two or three times before getting it right (maybe because I live in the center of a huge city with absurd light polution, which leaves very few stars visible). The price is high... but let me make clear that this is the only con of the SkySync and the only reason why it loses one star.

That being said, let`s move on to all the other aspects, in which the Sky Sync is perfect. First of all, there`s no argument against evidence... I never, ever, had to align my scope twice again! Period.

People might say `all you have to do is enter your coordinates right, so this equipment is not necessary at all`, and it does make sense technically, but I have to strongly disagree... for some reason, with the SkySync the scope aligns much better. This one time I decided not to use the SkySynch, for I was observing at the exact same location of the previous use. The coordinates were saved, so I figured I didn`t need the SkySync... well, I found that the alignment failed twice... and plugging the SkySync resolved the issue instantly... so, that made me a big fan... with one of these plugged into the scope, alignment is a breeze... and this was extremelly important for a super-begginer like myself. Remember: the best scope is the one you use the most... and the SkySync definetely made the process of geeting the scope ready for use much simpler, which helps me get off the couch and use it!

Other aspects are average... good: it is very light weight, quite small and looks good! Could be better: Cord could be 4-8inches longer, some sort of cover for the connector could be included and fixing to the tripod could be abit tighter.

Overall, did I like it, would I buy it again? Well, actually, I can`t believe I didn`t buy it when I bought the scope in first place!

5Time Saver
By Roman G. Swiatkowski
GPS works great with NexStar SE mount and CG-5 computerized mount. It's a nice time saver, especially when traveling or if you do frequent observing sessions.
