Excellent student or beginner microscope!!!
By Duane M. Kimble
I have a student that is college bound and we both tested this product. For this price, this is a excellent instrument. The device has a nice weight, fit and feel to it. It has
a silver painted finish that looks high quality, nothing at all toylike or cheap. It has two lamps, both operated from the lower pedestal. It takes 4 AA batteries to power the lamps. There is a 4X, 10X and 40X objective lens on the nosepiece. The optic range is from 40x to 640x.The eyepiece tube uses the included 10X and 16X eyepieces, which came in their own packages in the box.The box also contains a slide box with eight prepared slides and 4 empty ones as well as specimen handling tools.
Everything on the instrument works well. The filter wheel, adjustment slides and turn knobs all have a quality feel to it. The eyepiece rotates 360 degrees, a welcome touch for a microscope in this price range. The instructions in the box are straightforward and are translated in several languages. This is a excellent instrument for a hobbyist, a high school or in the case of my son, a undergraduate college student. With two lighting elements on the scope, it should not only handle standard biological fare but forensic science specimens as well. It is a good first microscope for any child interested in science, the build quality could carry them through college years.
I am very happy with this microscope. It has a excellent combination of build quality, features, and value.

Lack Of Quality Control
By S. Stewart
First....the good....the microscope is well built & sturdy. When functiong properly, actually a really good microscope.
The bad....had to return 2 microscopes due to quality control problems. First microscope had a staging area that was
askew....not parallel to base, but at a 35 degree angle to the base. Also, fitting the batteries in the battery compartment
was ridiculously tight...had to use a small screwdriver on the battery ends to wedge them in. And...after all that work,
the lights would not come on. So...return microscope #1 & requested a replacement. Microscope #2 arrived with hopes
of a better experience. The battery compartment was much better...batteries fit snug but not to tight. And...the lights came
on. Yeah!!! Whoops...the bottom light cover looked cracked..but it was just scratched & was able to buff it out. Well..lets
try out the microscope itself. Took one of the supplied slides (bamboo) & tried out the different views...first the 4X...looking good...now the 10X.....wait...there is some sort of contaminate in the view. I tried to locate (lenses, slide, etc) in order to wipe clean, but no luck. The 4X was always clean with no problems. The 10x always had the contaminate. So...it was embedded within the 10X lense or inside it beyond reach-to-clean. So...return microscope #2. I don't mind contacting the manufacturer
for simple issues (i.e. missing part), but when a product lacks quality control before leaving the factory, I'm not going to keep it. So...now I'll look elsewhere for my microscope. Thanks to Amazon for an excellent return policy.

Celestron Micro 360 Dual Purpose Microscope 44125
By A. Harvin
This is an excellent microscope for the price. So here are a few details about this microscope that you might want to know. The body is constructed of metal, but not thin sheet metal. I haven't weighed it, but it feels like about 3-4 pounds. The eyepieces are easy to swap out, and the overall optics are good. The LED illumination gives objects a slight bluish tint, but not so much as to be a distraction. There are three different diameters on the diaphragm as well as a red, green and blue filter. I was very pleased with the illumination. Both the top and bottom are independently controlled, so both lights could be turned on if desired. Both have a dimmer switch, so you can control the brightness of each independently as well. There is a screw at the base that let's you adjust how high the deck can go. Not everything with this microscope is perfect though. The main problem I had was the deck would drop slightly after raising it to focus. I only noticed the slight drop when i rigged a USB camera as an eyepiece. One final note is an accessory USB camera is sold that's supposed to be compatible with this microscope. No need to DIY if like I did. If you're in the market for a reasonably priced microscope this one has alot of bang for the buck.
